How to Change Power Mode in Windows 11

This article will show you how to change power mode in Windows 11. It is a feature Microsoft introduced in 2017 in the days of Windows 10. The operating system received a slider to adjust performance to energy efficiency ratio. It allows users to find a perfect balance in various working scenarios.

Power modes migrated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 without much difference. You can still select one of three modes.

  1. Best Power Efficiency. This mode may reduce performance to save the battery. You might spot lower CPU/GPU clock speeds and get an overall less snappy experience.
  2. Balanced. Good performance with the best battery life possible.
  3. Best Performance. You get the most of your hardware with worse battery life as a sacrifice.

Windows 11 favors the balanced power mode and keeps it on by default. Users can change power mode at any given moment.

Tip: You can select separate power modes when on battery and plugged-in. For example, you can tell Windows 11 to switch to the power-efficient mode when you disconnect the charger and select high-performance when you connect it back.

Unfortunately, unlike Windows 10, where you could change power mode using the battery flyout, in Windows 11, users need to open the Settings app every time they want to switch power mode in Windows 11. In the latest operating system from Microsoft, clicking the battery icon reveals the Quick Settings menu with various toggles, but it doesn't include Power Mode!

To change Power Mode on Windows 11, do the following.
